Striving to decrease injury-related deaths and disabilities through
collaborative efforts of expanded community partnerships

Trauma is the leading cause of death for persons in the United States between the ages of 1 and 44 years. It is the third leading cause of death overall in the U.S. making injury prevention a vital need in community life.

The mission of the Orange County Safe Communities Program is to provide all members of the Orange County, North Carolina community with information and resources to decrease injuries, disabilities and deaths. A secondary goal of all Safe Community programs is to reduce the costs to the community that are associated with injuries.
